What do you get when you try to cross a person and a tree?

Answer: A face palm
I thought of this pun when I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy with my son. His favorite character was Groot and he had asked how a tree could grow into a person. I really couldn't think of anything besides a mad scientist crossing a person and a tree. While the movie never explained that, strangely enough, the mad scientist answer ended up being the backstory for how Rocket Raccoon was anthropomorphized.
Explanation for the kids (and bad puns)
A "face palm" is a physical expression for disbelief, frustration, or embarassment where you hide or smack your face with your hand. The mad scientist may have done that for doing something as silly as trying to cross a tree and a person. Or you may find yourself doing this when you read an especially bad joke or pun. Like this one. D'oh!
